Production types I work on
- TV commercials (TVCs): multi-camera coverage for ad spots, behind-the-scenes monitoring, agency playback for clients on set. Most TVCs run as multi-day shoots in and around Cape Town. My Qtake (4 cameras) rig is built for the fast-turnaround style of commercial production.
- Feature films: long-form principal photography for theatrical and streaming releases. VT cover for principal unit, splinter unit and second unit. Recent: Boy Kills World (Lionsgate, 2024).
- Television series: long-form drama, anthology and limited-series production. Multi-block scheduling, dailies-quality recording, production-office handoffs. Credits include The Crown (Netflix), Black Mirror (Netflix), One Piece (Netflix), Warrior (HBO Max), Devil's Peak (DStv / Showmax), Deep State (MGM+), Average Joe (BET+).
- Music videos: single-day or multi-day shoots, often with live-performance multi-cam coverage. Wireless video to artist and director monitors.
- Branded content: corporate films, brand documentaries, internal communications, sizzle reels.
- Documentaries: single-camera or small-crew documentary shoots requiring playback for talent or director review.
- Behind-the-scenes (BTS) and EPK: on-set monitor feeds for press kit, social-media and behind-the-scenes camera teams.
- Second unit and splinter unit: independent VT cover for parallel units running alongside the main unit on a feature or series schedule.
- Stunt and action coverage: fast-playback for action departments to review fight choreography, vehicle work, and complex camera moves.
- VFX-heavy productions: VT setup that integrates with previs, on-set witness cameras, and visual-effects supervision.
What I deliver on set
- Cart setup & strike: full cart built, levelled, cabled and broken down between the start of day and wrap. No call-time rush; the cart is operational before crew unit moves.
- Wireless signal distribution: clean video feeds via Teradek Bolt 6 to director, DP, focus puller, 1st AD, script supervisor, and any other monitor positions the production needs. Separate channels, no signal clashes.
- Live playback: instant rewind, slate-to-slate review for director and 1st AD between takes. Critical for blocking-and-shoot, big set pieces, and stunt review.
- Take logging and metadata: every take labelled to match the slate (scene / shot / take), with circle-take and director's-pick markers, ready for editorial.
- Backup & redundancy: every recording mirrored across multiple drives during the day. Wireless TX/RX, recorders and key monitors all have backup units on the cart.
- End-of-day handoff: clean delivery of all recordings to the DIT or directly to editorial, with metadata intact.
- Multi-cam timing: synchronised playback across multiple cameras, including switching between angles for the director.
- Director playback for client / agency review: comfortable agency monitor positions for TVC clients on set.

- 4× Qtake cameras: industry-standard on-set Qtake playback. Up to four-camera multi-cam ingest, live previs overlay, take labelling, dailies prep. Hire individually or as a four-camera package.
Wireless video
- Teradek Bolt 6 LT: primary wireless TX + RX kit, low-latency 1080p video.
- Teradek 3000 wireless system: secondary / long-range wireless option.
- Teradek Sidekick: handheld receiver for ad-hoc monitor positions.

Monitors
- Swit 23.7": primary cart monitor for director and 1st AD.

- Western Cape: Stellenbosch, Paarl, Somerset West, Garden Route, West Coast. Included in standard quoting.
- Outside Western Cape: Johannesburg, Durban, KZN, Eastern Cape. Quoted with travel and per-diems separately.
- Cross-border: Namibia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, by arrangement. Passport and carnet-ready.
- International: open to international shoots. Travel, per-diems and gear-shipping arrangements quoted on enquiry.
